Margy Cruickshank’s inspirational works are often the Australian man-made landscape such as silos, including farming and industrial vistas. She features the scenes and cloud formations around southwest Queensland and the Northern Territory of Australia. These areas provide inspirations for Ms Cruickshank’s art pieces.

Her artist background mirrors those of other women who have interrupted careers because of life events. When a focus shift is allowed then the new emerges and evolves. Ms Cruickshank lives in a man made and ordered farming area in Toowoomba on the Darling Downs. However Australia is a large continent with diverse landscapes and vibrant colours that lend itself to pastel artworks.

The process is an immersive experience with time put into the mental framing of works that explode onto the paper. People experience the artwork with joy and realisation of the beauty surrounding them. Ms Cruickshank is a prolific artist but refuses to engage with the subjective fickleness of the mainstream art world with a studied avoidance of subjective competitions. Her artwork is only put into the public sphere for acquisition by those who appreciate the uniqueness of the subject material.
